To Believe, Or Not Believe
“Then the king was exceedingly glad and commanded that Daniel should be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no hurt of any kind was found on him because he believed in (relied on, adhered to, and trusted in) his God.”
Daniel 6:23 (Amplified)
Recently, while reading the story about Daniel and the Lions Den, a phrase leaped off the page to me. As I was reading, it suddenly hit me, “because he believed in his God.” This phrase is simple enough, yet a newfound force seemed to hit my heart.
Think of the dangers and darkness lurking in the Lion’s Den. The possibility and probability for some series pain and injury was off the chart. Yet, your Bible says that Daniel was not injured or hurt BECAUSE he BELIEVED in his God.
What does the word believe mean to you? It may be a word you can define, but the question is does this word define you? Does it define you in the midst of your life’s struggles?
The Bible calls those who have been born again by the title, “believers.” Believing is more about who we are, than what we do. Believing is trusting. It is resting in the midst of testing. To believe or not to believe, now that is a good question. Many people try to understand the Bible, which is good. However, the Bible is a book to be believed, not just understood. Believing is supernatural activity, and it takes courage to trust Him in the midst of your trial. Have Faith in God! Trust Him; guard your heart to stay close to Him.
Are there some areas in life that you find it easy to believe God, yet other areas that you struggle? What are you believing God for now? In John, Chapter 6, Jesus was asked by a group of people, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” He answered, “this is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
Here are some Scriptures for anyone needing a breakthrough in your Lion’s Den. Read them and allow faith to fill your heart. Believe Him!
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
Mark 9:23-24 (NKJV)
“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
Mark 11:22-23 (NKJV)
“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,”we also believe and therefore speak”
2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
